"The real reason I give and will continue to give is - I think the people at Dakota Communities do as good a job as any organization I work with in living out its mission and they have pride in living their mission everyday."

Giving

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Dakota Communities welcomes and relies on the generosity of our community to continue and enhance the services we provide. If you would like to partner with us in helping people with disabilities realize their potential in their lives and communities, you can make a tax-deductible contribution by mail. A form is provided below. We are sincerely grateful for your support and friendship.

Accessibility
There will be fewer, better residential settings for people with disabilities in the future.  Dakota Communities is committed to not only being better, but being among the best.  This means having homes with everything from accessible bathrooms and kitchens to patios and outdoor living spaces, from ceiling lifts, elevators and ramps to accessible furniture and therapy equipment.  All to assure the freedom of living as independently as possible.  Some ways you’ve already made a difference: money raised from gifts and memorials helped re-model an entire house in Mendota Heights and build a new pergola at a home on Victoria Road.  Bathrooms, ramps and lifts have been installed in many homes.  People are enjoying a new sense of independence in their lives.

Technology
Technology helps the people we serve live fuller, more “connected” and independent lives.  Touch screen computers with webcam    technology are dreams with a reality in sight.  Technology will also help employees work “smarter” not harder, in order to focus on good lives rather than “good paper.”  How have you made a difference?  We have a therapy equipment library now where things like an  all-terrain wheelchair can be  “checked out” for days on the beach.

Work Force
We know that attracting and retaining qualified, committed employees is critical to the success of our mission.  Our goal is to help fund ongoing learning, professional development opportunities, and wage enhancements.  With the creation of the Kathy LeMay Education Endowment Fund, employees at Dakota Communities now enjoy opportunities to further their education and ultimately provide better services and improve the quality of life for people with disabilities.

Community Participation
Dakota Communities is known for our strong commitment to supporting people to participate in their community in a wide range of activities - gardening, classes, volunteer opportunities, sports, theater, and whatever else they may dream.  (And our own transportation at every home to get there!)  We are committed to offering even more opportunities in the future.
