5.17.2010

The Legislature reached a budget agreement with the Governor late on May 16th, 2010 which included no rate cut for providers.

Your emails, calls, letters and visits with legislators made a huge difference!

The grassroots advocacy partnerships with self-advocates, family members, the Board of Directors, and other ARRM members definitely worked.  Thank you for your involvement and support! The immediate result is retaining over $400,000 on an annual basis for our funding.  There is a lot at stake down the road, as the state faces a huge deficit in the next funding period, but for today we can breathe easier.

THANK YOU!

Let’s make sure Minnesota continues to be the kind of state that values people of all abilities. Urge your legislators to invest in Minnesotans with disabilities so that we can all be better off.

Minnesotans face a “fork in the road” regarding how we treat people with developmental disabilities. One path affirms the value of people with disabilities and leads to greater humanity for all people.  The other path goes backward to the inhumane treatment of people with disabilities that characterized our state forty years ago.
